Historic Gold Hill Annual Membership Meeting Set for Monday Feb. 3rd
The Annual Membership Meeting of the Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation, Inc. will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening February 3, 2020 at the Russell-Rufty Shelter in Gold Hill Mines Historic Park. This year commemorates 30 years of restoration efforts at Gold Hill. In May of 1990 a small group made up of members of the Gold Hill Community met to discuss the possibilities of a community-wide event to celebrate the history of the once famous gold mining town. The event garnered a lot of attention and resulted in the eventual development of the Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation, Inc. The foundation was granted a 501(c) 3 non-profit status and held the first Charter meeting in January 1992.
Members and non-members are invited to attend Monday’s meeting. Committee members will present reports of the past year’s activities with a special report of the Gold Hill Men’s Club’s activities and fund raising efforts, given by past historic foundation president, Edwin Hammill.
Preservation awards will be presented along with the Ervin McCulloch Service Award to members who have exhibited exceptional support and service to the foundation. A social hour with refreshments will follow the meeting.
Gold Hill Mines Historic Park is located at 735 St. Stephens Church Road, Gold Hill, NC. For more information check the website at www.historicgoldhill.com or call 704-267-9439.
